In the wake of a financially tough 2011, Parachute Festival is offering "Pay What You Can Afford" family passes to any family who would like to come to Parachute Festival 2012, but can't afford to due to financial pressures.
The last few years have been tough for the purse strings of Kiwis. 2011 was one of the worst, between the earthquakes that devastated Christchurch and the global financial crisis. As organizers of one of the Southern Hemisphere's largest music festivals we've seen the effect of these tough financial times on many families.
Families financially struggling to attend Parachute Festival can now attend for a donation of their choosing (minimum $1). This is not a marketing gimmick - there are no catches. We're just asking families to pay what they can honestly afford.
Traditionally, Parachute Festival family passes cover up to two parents and up to three children - for the purposes of this initiative, there will be no limit on the number of children included nor their age, provided they are all immediate family.
Families that can't afford a normal ticket will also be able to buy passes at the gate on festival weekend.
